I actually used a vintage Singer buttonholer to do the buttonhole. I’ve got a post in draft about the various accoutrements I’ve bought to go with the Supermatic machine. It was the keyhole buttonhole template that totally sold me – they look ‘proper’ to me for a coat or jacket but I haven’t got the patience to do them by hand with silk thread ;-)
